Tech vs. UGA

Eventful day yesterday… although we lost the game 34-17, it was an okay game and not like one of those 51-7 loss games. I wasn’t expecting a win but was just hoping for the upset since we’ve lost to UGA ever since my Freshmen year. I wanted some bragging rights like we did with Auburn. We will win next year in their own house in Sanford Stadium :)

Anyways, the Goldfellas (as always) was part of the atmosphere in the south side of the Bobby Dodd Stadium. It was fun like always but it was a bit cold. Wind chills were the worst part of it all – felt like around low 30s when the wind blew and the wind blew throughout the whole game. The back of the stadium always covered up the south side from sunlight so that made it even worse.

Goldfellas… we had total of 19 guys – we spelled out “WHAT’STHEGOODWORD?!” on the front and “TOHELLWITHGEORGIA!!” on our backs. At kickoff time, the ABC camera crew were there and after the reporter ‘Suwanee’ or something did his little initial game spiel, they told us they were going to pan across the Goldfellas and the fans behind us. So I know we got some good air time  This seems to be mighty important to some of the Goldfellas so ABC putting the camera on us even for a few seconds was good.

And a still photographer or something took a picture of me and Jay and asked for our names. Haha, I wonder where we will show up. He is probably one of the GTAA photographers that takes pictures for GT Athletics publications or something.

Anyways, about 70% of the Goldfellas were shivering throughout most of the game. I kept telling some of them yelling and being active warmed me up but hey still kept backing away into the crowd so they could be away from the wind. It seriously helped to jump up and down yelling/rooting for our team. Half Time made it a lot worse in the second half though because there is the 30 minutes of doing nothing but standing there while everyone else is sitting thing. Some of the guys took warm up breaks in the bathrooms (apparently it was warmer there). I’d gotta say, I saw them shivering like mad and felt bad. Everyone looked alright today… well, those ones that I saw anyways. So I am glad no one got sick (afaik).

No more football… now basketball. I am very hopeful for our basketball team this season. They are 5-0 and they won the NIT Preseason Tournament – the most important part was that Tech defeated #1 ranked UConn to get win that championship. It’ll be awesome if Tech beat UGA, UNC, and Duke ;)

Dead Week starting this week… *sigh* I’m dreading finals… it’s like the direct confirmation of the wasted semester. I know what my new year resolution is… one of them anyways.

Yeah man- we were sitting on the North end of the stadium across from you guys- I yelled out “John Hwang!” everytime I saw you. Well, I think it was you. It was a hyperactive, short, asian Goldfella. ;)

This just in: Tech now officially a basketball school ;) – I actually want to go see some games this year.
