This is Georgia Tech.
Tuesday, April 6th, 2004Georgia Tech’s Basketball team has provided a very exciting roller-coaster ride for virtually everyone in the State of Georgia. I think I can speak for everyone when I say “We loved every single minute of it”.
You would not believe the number of high-fives, hands suggesting #1, hugs, smiles, laughter, and chatter that went on about Georgia Tech’s Basketball team on campus. The normal lives of the average Georgia Tech student- looking tired and stressed while walking toward their classes- was replaced by excitement.
The Championship game was a disappointment, I’m not going to lie… but thinking back from last year’s barely over .500 record to our amazing road to the NCAA Championship game… as well as proving wrong all and every so-called sports analysts out there who never gave Tech a chance… Our basketball team shouldn’t be anything but PROUD of their accomplishments.
Tech is always overlooked so much… We are one of the best engineering universities in the United States with NCAA Division I sports. You always hear about the UGA football program, UNC & Duke is always in the spotlight for basketball… Tech is so often overlooked. I just realized this for the first time and just needed to express it.
I certainly can say that I’m proud of them… not only because they’ve done awesome this season – but because of how they represented Georgia Tech to the World. Coach Hewitt was one of the best coaches I’ve seen in any athletic event. He seems to have a personality that is full of levity, calm, and reassurance- this seemed to have infected our basketball players. Maybe it’s just the pride I have as a student at Tech- if so, you can’t blame me. I feel that I was born a Yellow Jacket, I was meant to be here and nowhere else. This is truly a great feeling.
A big thank you to the Georgia Tech Basketball team: #2 in the Nation!
I nominate Coach Paul Hewitt as the Coach of the Decade.
It’s been a great ride, fellas. Great job!
