OpIraqiFree
May 11th, 2004 | by john |This whole Operation Iraqi Freedom thing since 2003… has been a very big pain in the political-butt.
Mind you, I careless about politics. I DO care about current events. These two events are sort of oxymorons because a lot of times current events are nothing but politics. They usually simply entertain me.
Since the whole 9/11 thing, I was mad. At who? I have no idea. A lot of finger pointing happened but no physical evidence came out to prove the finger pointing. Some people came out and admitted terrorist acts but they never showed any hard and unquestionable proof of such either. It’s a whole-lot of he said, she said, I said, they said…
I hate being kept in the dark of things. If worse comes to worst, I’ll simply accept it and move on. Governments are so afraid of terror-driven panic. I believe panic is caused by people who like to overexaggerate their actions.
Calm down and work through it and not be crazy through it. Collect your mind, people.
Anyway… I can honestly say I support the war on terror. The Afghanistan military action and even the one in Iraq. We’ve heard enough stories about how Iraqi citizens are mistreated. I hate dictatorships – they get too arrogant too fast. The word dictatorship is now a negative connotation because of what such power causes. Believe it or not, there are dictators that start out with a great plan but their power corrupts them… they lose sight of their great plan for his/her nation.
I think the most important thing in a political nation is Freedom of the press. A government not allowing the press to freely publish what they want (but truths and rightful opinions) tells me that they are trying to control something they can not own: information. Forget, for a second, the rest of the civil rights in the United States. Press will let us know of problems, scandals, and etc…
Give you an example… The whole US military abuse on its detainees. It’s a horrible and sad thing to happen, admittedly… but it’s a good thing that we know about it. Without freedom of the press, we wouldn’t have heard about it because it would have been controlled. The United States is not mistake free… we are comprised of human beings that are responsible for their own actions.
I hate the soldiers or guards or whoever did all this crap. I can’t blame the entirety of the situation on the Government though… there’s definitely a miscommunication there somewhere but this isn’t something that people foresaw. Simply, someone decided to be stupid, someone decided to report it, someone decided not to… Ordered Stupidity? Probably not. Training problems? Yes. Psychological issues? Most definitely.
I see some of the photos of the US soldiers abusing their prisoners… they look so proud of what they are doing. How stupid is that? How dumb do you have to be to not know what the consequences of such actions are? How psychologically screwed are you in the head to think that is something funny to do? How much of a coward do you have to be to bully someone that is chained and unarmed?
To those of you who are involved in this… you are in need of help.
To take things into a better perspective, your families also need to be evaluated.
I forgive Donald Rumsfeld… I watched the entirety of the senate hearings last week. Unless Rumsfeld was the greatest actor without a hollywood star… he answered the questions fairly and honestly. I felt that even he was amazed to find the extremity of some of the photos. He couldn’t answer some of the most difficult questions and he admitted that he couldn’t as he had no explanations for such.
That’s all I gotta say about that.
Okay… now Bush needs to work on his plan for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Need some kind of overhaul. Although my view of Bush’s presidency has declined since late last year, I’m hoping he and his millions of secretaries/advisors/military officers can bring this whole thing around.
