Done and Over…
August 8th, 2004 | by john |So summer is almost over – about a week left until I have to head back to tech.
I’ll be back in Atlanta on Friday afternoon depending how the week plays out. I have been procrastinating on some errands I really need to take care of before school… I haven’t done anything to prepare for the new year or anything and I need to start doing that.
I’ll be living in 6th Street East 411A with Troy, the CA on the floor. I met Troy as a 2nd year living on East campus and got to know him a lot better my third year. Last summer, I was worried about the whole roommate situation since Chatty and I wanted to room together yet he didn’t make the cutoff list… so I randomly chose a room on East Campus and was worried about what kind of roommate I was going to have. I found out that a roommate has some kind of influence over you on how productive you are… apparently, that first semester of my third year was academically the worst. The second semester, Chris (my freshmen roommate) invited me over to his 6-man apartment and I quickly applied for the room change since I just could not stand the whole two-people living-in-the-same-room scenario. That second semester was a lot better and I also had fun in the mean time.
Anyway, the building itself is the one that’s facing South of Atlanta and adjacent of the one that faces toward the center of campus. From what I’m guessing, I’ll have a pretty good view of CRC fields and the new CRC buildings.
Beside from rooming with someone I know and the location of the building, the apartment itself is only a two-man. According to Troy, these rooms are a bit larger than the average apartment rooms. And the apartment is shaped like a small apartment where you enter with the kitchen on the left and the bathroom on the right, with a tiny hall where it leads into a living area and two rooms on each side.
I guess I’ll have to write more about it when I actually get there.
Speaking of getting there, my second sister who is 3 years old than I am, graduated Pharmacy school and passed all her exams and whatnot and has been a certified pharmacist for a few weeks. She also got a job with Target Pharmacy and is making a nice chunk of money (although she complains that taxes take away a lot of it). I congratulated her on here after I got back from her graduation at UNC but now I congratulate her for her passing all her exams and getting a nice job.
That all lead to my explanation of how I’m getting there… my sister finally gave up her Ford Escort and bought herself a new Lexus IS300
I originally thought she was going to pass on getting a nice car and get a mediocre car… but she got herself a Lexus and I’m glad she did. In the end, I finally have a car I can call ‘my own’ and will be driving it down to Atlanta since I bought my $500 parking permit (crazy tech parking people!!) in the CRC parking lot.
I’ll sum up my summer a little later… I’m getting tired and need to straighten out my sleep schedule for my academic schedule. I registered for 13 hours of classes right now and the timing is good/okay but I might as well look for another class to take… any suggestions?
