Friday morning, on my commute to work (which took just a minute or two less than an hour by the way), I heard the most hilarious radio show comment in my life. This was the Ace & TJ in the Morning broadcast on Kiss 95.1 in the Charlotte area. The context of the show was about Halloween costumes and the talk show segued into a segment where Ace and TJ (hosts) would provide at least one reason to find any costume worn by a girl sexy in one form or another. The following direct quote from the show made me laugh so hard that I had to post this as a tribute to the show:
Madden: No, I saw a costume the other day that was like a bottle of ketchup. How do you find that sexy?
TJ: … you turn it upside down and bang it on its bottom.
Now, if you don't find that funny… maybe you need to have listened to the actual show for the full effect.
Correction: Yankee Pete, the executive producer of the radio talk show who can do a priceless German accent imitation that'll simply make you smile, corrected me that it was TJ that made the comment and not Ace so I made the correction. (Thanks Pete).

I am officially a Canon man. This is sort of a continuation of my previous post labeled Blurry excitement. Last week, I finally purchased the camera and equipment I've been wanting for over two years. On top of that, I bought some supplemental items as well. As of today I received all items ordered. So now in my possession are the following items:
As you may be able to tell, this was a serious investment for me. It definitely wasn't me being impulsive – it was about me finally having the time, money, and the need to explore a hobby that I've wanted to develop for a very long time. It would have been impulsive if I bought the Canon 5D (ok, I admit considering it for about half a day but I came to my senses
).
It's going to take me some time to get to know my new equipment, especially since I usually don't have much time during the weekdays. However, it will be difficult for this camera to be not in my hands when I am not at work. I will be honest here and say you won't see very good photos from me any time soon but I will try my best to capture captivating light through the eyes of my new camera.
Bad news is… I got a lot of rebate forms to fill out. Oh darn, I'll live.
Purchases aside, I've been looking at the weather forecast for this weekend and it looks like there will be precipitation in the area Saturday but sunny on Sunday. Either way, I hope the weather will allow me to go out and shoot this weekend. I am thinking about shooting at one or more of these locations: a park, uptown, and where I work.
Speaking of which… I'll need to revamp my site (preferably redo and design everything from scratch) to make room for the gigs of photos that will be posted by yours truly in the near future.

Weeks been passing by so quickly lately that my life’s been a bit of a blur. I decided to invest some serious dough to develop a hobby in photography. I remember buying my first digital camera my freshmen year. It took be over a month to research and decide on which camera I wanted. Then it was all about it being small and taking awesome pictures. It was a Canon Digital Elph S110. I remember having to look for a web design job to pay for the camera. One of my former clients so happened to need some work done on a new site – got paid $400 USD or something then I ordered the camera the week after. I think that was my very first ‘big’ purchase. I outgrew the functions of the camera very quickly. Within a few months, I knew that I would not invest in another ‘point and shoot’ camera next time around.
Within the past two years, I’ve been doing the same kind of research on and off on a more advanced camera. I finally made up my mind on the Canon 20D. I drooled over that camera for over two and a half years but could never take the plunge since I had neither the time nor money to invest in it. In February of this year, the Canon 30D was announced as the successor of the 20D. Within the next few weeks, I plan on investing in this digital SLR and a decent lens for starters (Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM AF). Canon just today announced a ‘Double-Your-Rebate’ deal so I plan on taking advantage of that and saving a few bucks.
I am very excited to have finally decided to make this investment. While this will be just a hobby, I am hoping that it will turn into something more meaningful for me personally as I take the time to shoot, read, learn, and shoot again.
