Perfect Patriots?

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

As many football fans may have heard by now, the New England Patriots have done the unthinkable.  They have gone 16-0 in the regular season of the NFL, a perfect regular season and many are predicting that they will clinch their division title and then win the Super Bowl giving them an absolutely perfect season that only the ’72 Dolphins were able to accomplish in the history of the game.  Tom Brady and Randy Moss have also set individual record performances; respectively, most touchdown passes and most touchdown receptions in the regular season.

Regardless, as a fan of the NFL and acknowledging the fact that the Patriots are a great football team, I will not be able to say that the Patriots were perfect the entire season.  Whatever trophy or plaque this organization will hold at the end of this season, it will always have the infamous Spygate scandal in its back-story, shamefully tarnishing what could be turning out to be perfect.  I feel like years or decades from now if/when another NFL team is able to have a perfect season, people will refer back to say “just like the 2007 Patriots except they weren’t involved in a scandal.”  It’s a damn shame… but I guess that is what happens when you do stupid things.

With NCAA Football and NFL season coming to a close, I’m not going to have anything to watch Saturdays, Sundays, and also Monday nights.  Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is looking forward to a great New Year.

Turkey Day Feast.

Friday, December 7th, 2007

I completely forgot about these photos that I took on Thanksgiving Day. My family met at my eldest sister’s house and most of the food was prepared by Cecilia and Johnny. We actually ate the food for lunch but it was so much food, I don’t think I ate dinner until near midnight on Thursday. Most of the photos are pretty much self-explanatory… except for the last one; yes, that is kimchi. What did you expect? :)

Needless to say, the food tasted as good as it looks in the pictures. The food was… mmm mmmm good!

Captured a split second.

I was just walking by on the dock, heading toward a ferry when I saw this little girl playing on the shore of a lake. I didn’t even bother to stop when I decided to compose a shot. I looked through the viewfinder of my camera and loved the scene enough to have stopped exactly half a second to press the shutter. I like how it turned out; the texture of the drying out shore is amazing.  This was taken with a Canon 30D and a 24-70mm f/2.8L lens.

Terry Fator.

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

A few months back, I made a posted a video of Cas Haley‘s first performance on America’s Got Talent from YouTube. I never followed the show although I did think Cas’s performance of Walking on the Moon was spectacularly done. While I was looking through my site to see if the upgrade had any ill-effects, I re-played Cas’s video and it made me want to look up who had won the show. I was thinking to myself “Surely, if Cas didn’t win there must have been someone else with jaw-dropping talent!” I found this Wikipedia article about America’s Got Talent (who knew it was the second season?) and saw that a guy named Terry Fator won and Cas was the runner up!

I did a second take on the wikipedia article because his primary talent was ventriloquism. I certainly had to look him up and found plenty of videos. His performances did make my jaw drop and also made me smile/laugh. I was in awe of his performances and was glad that he won. Congrats Terry! This was my favorite.

Upgraded.

Be warned, geek-speak ahead…

I finally got around to upgrading to the latest version of WordPress (2.3.1) from 2.0.6.  It was definitely a long overdue upgrade and I see great improvements to the administrative UI and also found a few useful plugins.  I also changed the wordpress theme to this simple design that I found by googling from themes; it is named Black & White and you can download it directly from Blog Oh! Blog.
