If you know me well enough, you’ll know that I am not a big TV watcher aside from sports. There isn’t much on TV nowadays that interest me ever since the so-called ‘reality tv’ boom years ago. Although this really isn’t a rant about reality-tv, I just have to add here that ‘reality tv’ is farthest away from reality you can get on television. It simply boggles my mind why there was even a reality-tv boom in the first place considering… well, everyone has their own reality to live in. It’s like you pause 30-minutes+ of your life to watch another ‘reality’ which is non-existant and is about as much of a fantasy as it is ‘reality’ because of all the editing that goes on.

Anyway, back to what I was going to post here in the first place… Aside from sports, I watch two television shows: Scrubs and Lost. I admit Lost has been going a bit sour from their spectacular first season but I know they are starting to pick up pace on the storyline so I’m looking forward to that. Scrubs, on the other hand, has been on a broadcasting halt while its fifth season has already started being filmed because the people at NBC were thinking about shuffling things around and perhaps even cancelling this hilarious show.

Anyway, long awaited announcement has finally been made…

SCRUBS is finally coming back to NBC this January 2006!

All I have to say is; ABOUT TIME, NBC!

It’s okay, there are no spoilers to this entry… maybe just teasers.

Okay okay, due to the fact that several different people kept talking about or watched the new ABC series… Lost.

I decided to give it a go.

Definitely way different than the humor I got addicted to with Scrubs (frickin’ hilarious show) but I like it so far. Mainly because of the fact that things aren’t the way they seem in every episode – it feels like there’s something extra-phenomenal going on with this series… like the writer’s are building up to something extraordinary.

I love how the history of each character is presented in every episode (so far), the flashbacks are very well done. It looks like the writers and producers of this show took a lot of time into intertwining the subplots. The episodes are very well polished… but the truth is that almost every episode is very blunted at the end as if they worked hard polishing up the history of their stories that they often leave the latest happenings rugged. Not saying that it’s bad… but metaphorically speaking: it’s a roller coaster ride, you just hope that it’s not too long to make you sick of it or it doesn’t have 15 consecutive loops to make you sick of it. There’s been a lot of looping so far and you just hope that the writers who are putting in all these loops aren’t going to make us fall into an infinite loop where the viewers will not be mesmerized by this one loop. All these loops must be linked together and at some point it should finish up in the end.

If I wrote down all the questions that ran through my head as I was watching these episodes and answer them as they are all revealed, this show will be much more polished if in the finale of this show, all the questions are answered. This will require that the writers know where they are going with this series; meanwhile… the turns and twists are good but it should still get back to the main road.

If you watched the first episode and didn’t watch the second… wow, I’ll be impressed.

There are different levels of this series… a mix of Cast Away, Jurassic Park, The Langoliers, and even a little bit of everything that modern TV-series have… like our time’s fascination with medicine and forensics (ER, CSI, etc…) to love triangles like in Soaps.

It also reminded me of The Lord of the Flies although… that was back in middle school or whatever. The parts about the boar hunting, separating into two different groups, and similar characters like Ralph and Piggy… Come to think of it, it seems a bit too familiar.

My favorite character so far is Locke. A strange yet so mysterious of an introduction but he’s the oldest of the group and probably therefore… wise in so many different ways.

In the end, everything about this series will involve assumptions… my assumption relates to each character’s development. It’s strange how almost every character (of the episodes I’ve been able to see so far) has had an unsual past. I hoping that this realization will prove to be one of the keys that answers the secrets of Lost. (Yes, I am one of those guys that tries to guess the culprit or the ‘bad guy’ in the first… how many ever minutes it takes to introduce all the characters. I’d say 60% of the time my guesses turn out correct, but I watch a lot of movies so that isn’t a lot.)

I’d suggest you guys give Lost Forums a try for Lost discussions!
