What can brown do for me? Miss a twelve hour window for delivering a package that I had them hold for two days just so that I or someone could be at home to sign for it. So I was not home to sign for a package scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday. UPS left a note letting me know that they would try again on Wednesday between 10am-2pm which is usually the time UPS delivers packages in my neighborhood. The problem was, I knew for a fact that no one would be home to sign for it on Wednesday. So I call them Tuesday afternoon and let them know that no one would be home and that I specifically requested that they deliver it on Thursday because that gave me plenty of time to pull in a favor or two to have my place covered.

So on Thursday, the 10am-2pm time period passes by and I see that it hasn’t been delivered yet and it also doesn’t show that it was “OUT FOR DELIVERY”. I get curious and call UPS and the rep I spoke with said that it will be delivered today and the tracking won’t show “OUT FOR DELIVERY” although it is on the truck. As naive as I am, I believed the rep. Because I couldn’t find anyone to cover my place the entire morning/afternoon, I decided to jet out of work early. By the time I got home, still no delivery. I checked the tracking and it still showed the last update as being Tuesday afternoon with a “held for future delivery” message that’s been there for two days.

6:55pm rolls around and still nothing. So I decided to call UPS again because I knew that UPS trucks stopped at 7pm no matter what is left in their crap-colored trucks. Another UPS rep looked up my tracking number and says to me “Oh the driver is a bit late but don’t worry, they will get there”. Yet again, as naive as I am, I said “Thanks!” and hung up the phone. No less than 5 minutes later, I see the dreaded “Delivery Rescheduled” update. Again, I called UPS and spoke to another rep who couldn’t provide me with any reason why my package was not delivered. Of course, I was frustrated but was not angry with the rep because he obviously was not the problem. Regardless, now I have to take a phone call from the local UPS center Friday morning so that I can discuss with them as to what to do… ironically, I am not sure what there is to discuss about. A package that they failed to deliver on one day should be considered higher priority than the others scheduled to be delivered on the next.

What makes me angry about this was all the bullshit I was fed throughout the entire day. Had they told me from the beginning of Thursday that they would not be able to deliver it, I would have called the shipper and had them overnight the same package via FedEx so I could get it prior to leaving for work on Friday. That would essentially be quicker and less troublesome, the latter of which I would have no hesitation for paying extra. Due to all the bullshit I was fed, I will most likely need to drive 40 minutes to their local UPS distribution center to pick up the package myself tomorrow night because otherwise, I’ll need to wait until Monday (FedEx does residential deliveries on Saturday). How do I know that it takes 40 minutes to their UPS distribution center locally? Honestly, it’s because this is not the first time this has happened to one of my packages.

Bottom-line is, UPS sucks around here. I have found them to be unreasonably inept when you try to work with them. From now on, regardless of other variables related to shipping and handling, I will be choosing FedEx. So what can brown do for me? If I had the choice, absolutely nothing from this point onward.
